Our commitment: gambling is entertainment, not income

We offer our games as a form of entertainment. They are not a way to earn money, and they are not a way to win back money you have already lost. Every game carries a built-in margin in favour of the house, so over time players lose more than they win. The only sensible way to play is with money you can comfortably afford to lose.

Before you deposit, decide what you are willing to spend over a week or a month and treat that figure as the price of the entertainment, in the same way you would a ticket or a subscription. Decide how long you want to play for as well. If either figure starts to slip, that is the moment to stop rather than the moment to top up.

We ask that you play only with your own money, from a payment method in your own name, and never with funds set aside for rent, bills, credit repayments or family commitments. We hold a gaming licence, we verify the identity and age of every customer before play is unrestricted, and we will act where the way an account is being used suggests that gambling is causing harm.

Strictly 18 and over

Gambling at Tote Casino is for customers aged 18 or over. Gambling underage is an offence. If we find that an account holder is under 18, the account is closed, winnings are void and deposits are returned in line with our terms.

The safer gaming tools in your account

Every customer has a set of free controls in the safer gaming area of their account. You do not need to give a reason for using them, and using them has no effect on withdrawals of any balance you are entitled to. The exact periods you can choose from, and any cooling-off time that applies, are shown on screen as you set each tool.

Deposit limits

A deposit limit caps how much you can pay into your account over a day, a week or a month. The cap covers all of your payment methods together, so it cannot be bypassed by switching card or wallet. A lower limit takes effect as soon as you confirm it. A request to raise or remove a limit is held for the cooling-off period shown in your account, and you can cancel the request at any point before it takes effect.

Loss and session limits

A loss limit caps how much you can lose, after wins are taken into account, across the period you choose. A session limit caps how long a single logged-in session can run before you are signed out. Both work in the same way as deposit limits: a tighter setting applies immediately, a looser one only after the cooling-off period.

Time-outs

A time-out is a short break. Your account is locked for the length you pick, you are removed from our marketing for that time, and the lock cannot be lifted early, even if you ask us. Any withdrawable balance remains yours and can be paid out while the break is running.

Self-exclusion

Self-exclusion is a longer and firmer block for customers who want to stop. Your account is closed to play, marketing stops, and we will not accept new registrations from you while the exclusion runs. It cannot be shortened or cancelled. When the period ends, the account stays blocked until you contact us, confirm in writing that you want to return and complete a further cooling-off period.

Reality checks

A reality check interrupts play at an interval you choose with a reminder of how long you have been playing and how your stakes and returns stand for that session. You can carry on or close the session from the reminder.

How to switch a tool on

  1. Sign in and open the account menu.
  2. Choose the safer gaming or responsible gaming section.
  3. Pick the tool you want and the amount or period that suits you.
  4. Confirm, then double-check the summary shown on the confirmation screen.
  5. Keep the confirmation message we send you for your records.

If you would rather not do it yourself, our team can apply any of these settings for you. Use the live chat on the site, write to support@casino-tote.co.uk, or contact responsiblegaming@casino-tote.co.uk. Tell us the tool and the period you want and we will set it and confirm in writing.

Signs that gambling may be becoming a problem

Problem gambling develops gradually, and the early signs are easy to explain away. Be honest with yourself about the following checklist. If more than one or two points sound familiar, it is worth setting a limit or taking a break today.

  • You play for longer, or stake more, than you planned to.
  • You go back to try to win back money you have lost.
  • You gamble with money meant for bills, rent, food or repayments, or you borrow to play.
  • You hide how much you play, or how much you spend, from people close to you.
  • You feel restless, low or irritable when you are not playing.
  • Gambling is affecting your sleep, your work, your studies or your relationships.
  • You have promised yourself or someone else that you would stop, and then carried on.
  • Playing has stopped being enjoyable but you still find it hard to stop.

A simple first step

If you are unsure, set a deposit limit at a figure you know you can afford and a reality check at a short interval. The limits make the pattern of your play much easier to see.

Where to get free, confidential help

The organisations below are not part of our business and support is free. They can help you, or someone close to you, whether or not you choose to tell us anything.

  • GambleAware provides information, self-assessment tools and signposting to treatment across Great Britain, and funds support services.
  • GamCare offers free counselling, group support and practical advice for people affected by gambling, including family members.
  • GamStop is the free national self-exclusion scheme: one registration blocks you from all online gambling sites licensed in Great Britain for the period you choose.
  • The National Gambling Helpline is a confidential helpline and live chat service staffed by trained advisers, open to anyone worried about their own or another person's gambling.

Many banks will also block gambling payments on request, and gambling-blocking software can be installed on your devices. Used alongside self-exclusion, these measures make it much harder to act on a sudden urge to play.

Protecting children and other people in your household

We verify the identity, age and address of every customer before play is unrestricted, and we may ask for documents again at any time. We do not market to under-18s and we keep age warnings on our site and in our communications.

Shared devices are the main way children get access to gambling accounts, so a few household habits matter:

  • Never share your username, password or payment details, and do not let anyone else play on your account.
  • Log out fully instead of leaving a session open, and avoid saving passwords in a browser others use.
  • Lock devices with a PIN, pattern or biometric and keep cards and wallets out of reach.
  • Install parental control or content-filtering software to block gambling sites, and set up separate user profiles for children.
  • Check statements for payments you did not make.

Tell us if something is wrong

If you believe a child has used your account, or that someone under 18 holds an account with us, contact us straight away on live chat or at support@casino-tote.co.uk. We will look into it, suspend the account and keep what you tell us confidential.
